Databases subscriptions update for 2012-13

We have made a number of changes to our subscriptions to bibliographic databases for 2012-13. These are:

• CAB Abstracts
  Access to CAB Abstracts will cease on 30 September 2012. A review of the duplication in coverage between databases identified a large overlap between CAB Abstracts and Global Health. Therefore, it was decided to cancel the subscription to CAB Abstracts. CAB Abstracts users are recommended to use Global Health and BIOSIS Citation Index instead. Money saved from the cancellation will be used to part-fund a subscription to SCOPUS (coming soon).
• BIOSIS Previews
  BIOSIS Previews has been upgraded to BIOSIS Citation Index. The two databases contain the same bibliographic information, but BIOSIS Citation Index also contains citation information on each article. 
• SCOPUS
  The Library will be subscribing to SCOPUS during 2012-13. We are currently in negotiation with the supplier and hope to announce our subscription soon.
